The Destroyer of Faith
My friend Kenda stole my thunder a few days ago by reading ahead of me. This is what she said:
“I was just reading Mark 5 this morning. When Jesus leaves the now sane man and gets to the other side of the lake, Jairus pleads with Him to come heal his daughter, but a messenger comes and says don’t bother, she’s already dead. But Jesus says, ‘DON’T BE AFRAID. JUST TRUST ME.’ Those simple words were what really ministered to me. It’s the key to everything, in my life anyway, – not to be afraid, just to trust. We have to trust that the change He will bring about, if we let Him, will ultimately cause us to have the life we were always meant to have. Even if it’s scary and uncomfortable. Even if it requires sacrifice and a commitment level new to us. Even if everyone around us is trying to hold us back. Don’t be afraid. Just trust.”
Fear is the destroyer of faith…it is what the disciples displayed on the boat in the storm. I have more fear than I have realised – some of us are perfectly aware of our fear – but Jesus says to just believe.
Believe that he is going to do what he said and we will live the life we were always meant to live.
