Finally, I Heard!

2009 July 6

Two weeks ago my pastor gave us (staff) a couple of verses and told us we were heading into a season of “waiting on the Lord.”  I meant to read the verses before we came together again a week later, but I didn’t.  Last week we spent some time waiting on the Lord individually, as a group (if that makes sense).

So I visited the verses he shared with us:

Psalm 46.10
“Be still and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

Isaiah 30.15
“In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength,
but you would have none of it.”

Then I simply said to God: What do I need to hear?  and this is what I heard…

- I need to spend more time resting and repenting (in which I receive salvation); I need to come out of these times with a quiet confidence and trust that he will do what he has said he will do and join with him in that.  H will be exalted regardless of my frivolous activity – it is better to rest and repent and to act in quietness and trust than to begin all sorts of things trying to do what I cannot do anyway…

…I will either be spent of my energy or ready to join in his celebration.

The latter sounds so much more enjoyable, don’t you think?
